Well, I'm crazy busy with school this week but I got my front tires yesterday so I rolled the roadster out of the garage to stand back and get a good look. The winshield is waaaay too tall but other than that I'm really diggin the way this thing looks. Maybe that way loooong wheelbase won't be so bad after all. Here's som pics, enjoy.
Man that front axle is WAY out there, looks good! Is it going to be running by billetproof? O/T my grandparents live in Bay City, Kilarney Beach, and my parents keep their boat at Wheeler's Landing. I'll have to get in touch next time I'm up that way, I'd like to check out your roadster!
Personally, I don't think it is out of proportion at all. And I can tell you from experience, you'll apprechiate the ability to hunker down behind it to get out of the wind and rain. I wish I had about another inch or two on my own roadster. So think twice before you cut it down - or get a good pair of goggles. Dewey
I like the full size windshield. You can always cut it down after you've driven it a while, but you really may appreciate the 'full coverage' in time.
Everybody else is telling me to leave the windshield alone, I just think it looks goofy. I am 6'1" though, and that channel job has me sitting kind of high maybe I will leave it for now. It won't be ready for Billetproof this year, and I'm pretty certain I won't have it running by this weekend for the shindig in Birch Run, but my goal is to have it ready for Billetproof Detroit 2007. Hey Rich, are you and Frank still stopping by after breakfast to take a look at the rear frame? My trigger fingers' itching on my Sawzall right now.
yes- leave it! Our shield is 8" and angled about 30 degrees on our T, and we sit on the FLOOR, and there isn't even any room to duck behind it. Way too short, we're adding another 1.5". 80MPH+ is off limits because at that speed I can't breathe with the wind blasting me
Thats looking sweet. I like the proportions. I too would leave the windshield alone. Looks just right to me. Nice work.
Scott.... I'm game and I think Frank is to. Maybe he will see this and respond. See you Saturday Rich
One fat June bug in the eye at 60 MPH will go along way towards convincing you about the sensibility of "tall goofy windshields".
looks good! i agree the windsheild looks very in proportion and i think it helps out the wheel base. usualy a car with such a long w.b. with the front so far out looks just wrong but that windsheild is totaly pulling it all together. looks perfect man. if your still thinking about it at least leave it till last because i think with the motor all dressed out with the headers and ect its going to look perfect
Have to agree. I like the windshield too! I wouldn't take more than 1"... if any... Just my option though!!
It's only been 4 1/2 years, wonder if he got the windshield chopped yet. If he is anything like me, probably not.
Ummmm.....how exactly did a thread of mine from May, 2006 get brought back to life? If anyone is curious the roadster cowl and doors were traded to a fellow HAMBer for a 32 Ford truck cab which was then sold to finance my TIG welder. Parts of that cobbled up ch***is were un-cobbled and put into service under my sedan. Strangely enough that windshield is chopped about two inches and happened to look killer on my roadster and that's where it sits right now.
Hey Scott, Apparently your builds are timeless... Got that roadster done yet?? I hear the new coupe calling your name. HA HA... Look forward to seeing you at Autorama.
