Hello I am using a copper head gasket on a 1937 olds 6 cylinder flat head. Are you suppose to use the copper spray gasket sealer too? thanks in advance...mike in michigan
We did a '38 Packard straight 8 and yes we sprayed the copper head gasket with a light coat of the copper gasket sealer. That how Best gasket said to do it. KK
Agree'd, use sealant. Best place to get it is from big diesel truck places, it'll be fresher and easier to work with. You get it from Pep Boys etc and it might have been on the shelf a year or so. Farm tractor repair places would have it too.
I just use a coating of regular old grease. If your surfaces are prepared properly, everything should seal fine. You can thank me later if you ever have to take the head off the engine.
