Does anybody know who makes and stocks the disc type float valve in place of the rubber tip needle valve for the Holley 1904 single barrel carb All the rebuild kits i have seen have the needle valve, the ones i have tried dont seat causing the carb flood My original carb had the disc type in which works great so i have swapped it over What i intend to do is fit a dual setup to my 223 and have all the carb internals matching with no flooding issues, or is there a way to soften the tips on the new valves so they seat
Installing the Needle & Seat The 1904 tends to leak past the copper washer between the seat and the bowl. When installing the needle & seat apply a small amount of Permatex Red to the threads of the fuel inlet screw (the screw that holds the seat). Also apply a very small amount of Permatex Anaerobic gasket maker to the washer (some are copper, some are fiber).
Thanks, i will try what you suggested need to look up Permatex have not come across it over here in the UK I would still like to install the disc type valve though if I can find one
I still have some of the Parker Brothers fuel valves for the 1904. And while they work well, they are not that much better than original Holley valves to justify shipping to England. I seldom disagree with saltflats, but would suggest instead of the Permatex Red that you consider using Permatex Blue (also known as Loc***e). Both will stop any leakage, but the red makes future dis***embly extremely difficult. Jon.
