I'm building a '56 Fairlane Club Sedan. I've already installed a completely rebuilt Camaro subframe, 8.8 rearend with 3.73 gears, new brakes, and Lokar emergency brake cables hooked up to a handbrake between the seats, new heater, steering box, power brake booster and m/c, 302 with AOD, Lokar Shifter, a new windshield and gasket, and a new aluminum radiator with dual fans. I just finished a project for someone else, so can now spend time on the '56. I've been collecting parts while I was working side jobs, so I actually have time and parts at the same time, which is unusual for me. Plans are for a canyon-carver (I'm surrounded by mountains) with mild custom touches. Hand-built bumpers and grille, custom taillight surrounds, and other small details, with black paint covering nearly everything. The paint on it is a decent 30-foot paint job, but I've got my home paint booth ready and waiting. Here are a few pics of where I started and where I'm at now.
Nice project you've got going there. I really like the mods you've done. I was wondering where the heck Hopper was, as it turns out I went right thru it last year, on my way from Taos to Cripple Creek taking the scenic route. I'm guessing there's not a whole lot going on out there to distract you from your project. Going to have it ready for the Alamosa show this year?
Thanks. I have a few sign-painting jobs I need to get done, but that's about all the distractions for now. I hope to have the car done this summer, but the bunch in Alamosa already told me I'm not welcome. Local politics...
She's gonna be sweet alright. Anxious to see what your gonna fabricate regarding bumpers and grille. Keep going.
Not finished, but in sealer and on the road. I got the bumpers and grille built, as well as inner fenders and about a million brackets to tie everything together. I've put about 1,200 miles on it in the last month. It drives great, and I ironed out a few minor gremlins, but it is doing pretty well for a new build.
