So, is this board now about 2006 Wescotts and Brookvilles or is it about 1932 Fords? Seems over the years with the older bodies and parts being used up and growing harder to find, the repro stuff has gained in acceptance. Actually I have no problem with that. Build what you can get your hands on. The guys in the 50's never had to worry about bringing back 75 year old mangled rust buckets back from the dead. They bought the 20 year old car from down the street or got the old man's or grandfather's old car free. The local wrecking yards had plenty of parts to replace what was mangled. There's skills and abilities in bringing one back from the dead now they never had to learn. Guys buying Wescotts and Brookvilles aren't much different than the guys in the 50's. In the 50's they bought Thickstun or Offy manifolds new and we can do that today as well. Bottom line is I think a guy building with all new stuff is just as much a rodder as the guys in the 50's were, only back then there was more experimentation and less proven. Goldchainers today have SoCal or Boyd build them a car. In the 50's they would have had Barris or Winfield build them a car. Guys able to resurect the 70 to 80 year old stuff take it to a new and higher level. The only problem with the Gl*** is cl***/Steel is real debate is that neither of them is real. Ford made X number of Deuces in 1932 and that's it. The new ones are nice and in some cases the parts will interchange with the origional, but I still think it's wrong to call them 1932 Fords, and especially to ***le them as 1932 Fords.

very well said- hot rodding is about having fun, driving a car you built in your garage fast and cheap! These body prices today though, be it steel or gl*** are not what I'd consider a hot rod then :(

  3. I'm kind of surprised there are any "gl***" guys on the HAMB.

To me, it should be priced around $15k if a steel one is $22/23K its less desireable and has a lower resale value..(more then $3k...)

Same two cars (finished hotrods), one steel brooksville and one Wescott with the same quality parts. I would think the steel would be worth $5k more at a minimum

I think they smoke left handed cigarettes.

$20k for just a body....rediculous in my opinion.

Is a corvette just a pretty dune buggy too?

No, it's much more. A Corvette is a pretty dunebuggy d****d over an EXCELLENT parts car, useful to either hot or streetrodders depending on year.

I'm guilty as well. Did a gl*** roadster a while back. Was $7200 back then for the "California Hiboy" Roadster body. Still a lot of work, it's just....different. BTW the quality on that Wescott's body was a hell of a lot better than the Brookville grill shell I used.

with that said on the "quality" stricken bodies, does he sell those at a lower price? I would consider then if they were available...like "blems"

Why not make a buck on "garbage" right?

I dont think he has or would ever sell a blem.
I only know of one blem that has ever left there shop
It is being used for lawn decoration, towed by a "T" Tow Truck. I have also seen some stuff cut up with Skill Saw's. Very sad but also only plastic!!!
Kind of like blowing up a model kit that turned out bad:p
