Headed to the crusher. Not mine. Just seen this and thought I'd p*** it on https://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/d/cl***ic-auto-parts-liquidation/6486175258.html
Not everyone understands there are levels of pay in the s**** business. Joe Schmo bringing in a single car gets one price while a yard hauling in 50-100 tons a month gets a much different price. Volume mathematics
Thanks for sharing, I see one of the golden 4 door 55s, Made me think and wander if anything was ever done with "THE" golden anniversary 2 door hardtop 55 or what happened to it?
Low budget: I had a conversation with my nephew last thursday about the golden '55. That car was in a fire and pretty much destroyed. The guy still has all the parts of the car. Joe, my nephew is founder/ owner of Real Deal Steel, builders of the new tri-five bodies and keeps up with that sort of stuff. Tim
Would be cool if your nephew could team up with the guy and make a car out of what they have together.
Looks like there may be some good deals for someone local, any distance away, not so much. A guy would have to climb through the junk to look something over to see if it was worth the h***le of getting something out of there. Gene
Too bad the seller is only giving three weeks to sell them, with one or two feet of snow on the ground.
Lots of stuff in there worth $350 a ton. With the engine/trans out, should be less than $700 for a project.
[QUOromTE="HOTRODPRIMER, post: 12442979, member: 1182"]Where is this? HRP[/QUOTE] From the pictures in the ad it looks to me like Cl***ic Auto Parts in Hayden Id. I was in that yard about 5 yrs ago and he had quite a bit of older stuff. Look on Google maps and follow U.S. 95 north of town a ways. There will be 3 yards on the east side of the rd and this is the one in back
do you really think cars like those that have been sitting outside probably 30 years or more with the hoods up and the gl*** broken out treasures.
Oh man, and it's in my neck of the woods too. Maybe 2 1/2 hours away. There is pretty serious weather coming through this weekend. I wonder if I can make it over!
A buddy of mine is heading over there next week to check it out. I wonder how the weather treats sheet metal in that part of Idaho? A lot of the stuff in the pictures I've seen looks pretty picked over. If you did find a whole car you wanted, how in the heck would you even go about getting it out of there?? Could be sixteen cars deep, through trees and a foot of snow! lol
Generally speaking, the rust isn't too bad. Most issues relating to rust were from time on the road more than sitting. I've seen cars sitting many years outside and most rust issues are limited to floor pans.
