Great start. It's been a couple of weeks for me. Here's a commission piece that I just finished. My friend Joe Attwood gave me the go head, to share, so I am. Have a great show everyone. joes coupe-a.jpg joes coupe-1a3.jpg

  9. I haven't drawn anything for far too long. I forced myself to do this one during the week. [IMG]

    Hello,

Bonneville has always been a destination for my brother and me. During early 1960, we always talked about whether our 671 SBC 40 Willys would work on the salt flats. We were impressed with the Plymouth Sedan we saw in a magazine. (It had to be the Moon Discs...)

Of course, gear changes, different roll bar set up, different wheels and tires, etc. would all be necessary for the all-out timed runs. At this stage of our racing careers, it was all talk, since our budget dictated what we did or were able to do to make it happen.

At the time, we only had the 1958 black Impala for a tow vehicle. Even with a few gear changes and we would have been miserable towing that Willys coupe to Utah. So that idea was shelved for a while.

But, what would take our 40 Willys to the salt flats? The 58 Impala that we used to pull the coupe to Lions Dragstrip? Probably not. When we were at the beach, my brother saw a beat up, Mercury Woody with a couple of surfboards sticking out. Immediately, he thought of a cool, tow truck for the Bonneville ***ault Willys coupe. Wait, it was a woody, not a truck.

Somewhere in his weird, always thinking, mind, my brother was still considering the salt flats power runs. He laughed at the thought and the idea was in the wind. We were having too much fun at Lions, racing in the Gas Coupe and Sedan cl***es.

This “Woody Pick Up Truck” would have been the most interesting tow/push vehicle on the whole salt flats had we been able to make it work. Matching Moon Discs on the Willys Coupe and the tow/push Woody Truck.

Hope this is ok to post here, but I believe this is ART. We saw this Model A sedan at an antique show in Nashville, TN yesterday. It was carved from wood and painted, all to scale and wonderfully done. It was approximately 5 feet long and priced at $7500.00 There were lots of admirers.

  26. Rusty, It was an old abandoned train depot, that's along side the train tracks. It is all boarded up, and makes you wonder what could be inside. You out did yourself this week, and thanks. I'll add some photos of my model of the Swamp Rat 1. Thanks Ron... 088.jpg 087.jpg 089.jpg
