My main fuse holder currently has a fuse in there that's too short. I put in some aluminum foil as a spacer but I don't think that's a good idea. I was having intermittent headlights the other day and after poking the fuse holder with a screw driver the problem was fixed. Does anyone know where to find these long fuses? 47 dodge. Thanks

if it's an inline fuse holder, a spring will work.

    Pictures?

It sounds like maybe someone modified something on the truck, and you might want to do some more modification, such as replacing the fuse holder with one that you can get fuses for.

My wild guess is it's an AGA or 9AG type fuse, but they are for 50 amps usually, and a 50 amp fuse connected to headlight wiring is not going to be an optimum solution...the fuse is too large to protect the wires, and a short circuit would result in melted wires and possibly fire.

  6. There use to be different length instrument fuses available, that weren't high amperage. Check with an electronics supply store.

  8. Any electrical supply house should have longer fuses. They are commonly use to this date on equipment like conveyors, heating and cooling and etc. I have also found them on automotive supply houses like NAPA or older mom and pop parts houses.

SFE group ranges from 5/8'' long 4 amp to a 30 amp that's 1 1/4'' long. Your headlights should be on a circuit breaker, though, unless it's been "worked on".
