Can I run no front brakes on a street car?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RoadFarmer, Jan 22, 2011.

  1. I once owned a 30,s ford Pk. none of that pesky leaking brake fluid. it has mechanical brakes. And no matter how you adjusted them . you only had one wheel brakes. A thrill a minute to drive it.

I'm glad you are asking the question. In my former life, no matter how nice the car looked, it would end up on the back of a tow truck and the owner would have a date with the judge. We all know what terrible liability goes with such actions even without injury or loss of life. Build it the way you want then use it where appropriate. Don't mean to soapbox, just had to give too many families some very sad news.

Hard to do a panic stop on a straight section of road.....impossible to do a panic stop on an even slightly curved road, let alone a sharp curve. Think bicycle with a coaster brake doing a skid. Nothing to stop the *** end of the vehicle from coming around as soon as the wheels are locked up.....and lock up they will!
