I found a nice one at the flea market, and was wondering if anyone is still using them or did they go out with the green shag carpet?
Heres the one we put in the A. I liked it, obviously. I think the smaller ones look better. This one is a 7.75 and alot smaller than the full size ones.
I had one in a truck..........but it was 1982! & it did have a Jag rear & slot mags with General Grabber's to match. Oh lord that was 24yrs ago!
I have one in a channeled 32. I like it. Man nothin's out now days. If you want it, mount it. Somebody don't like it, f**k 'em. Good luck.
A lotta' T buckets run those tanks on the back.T Buckets are making a BIG comeback. I was the 1000th member to join the National T Bucket Alliance in 2003, and today that figure has almost doubled!
I'd run a keg way before some race cell. Fabrication vs store bought crap wins every day. Kegs are cool. Run it if ya dig it.
My gas tanks bit the dust and I don't want to shell out for a fuel cell. What's the biggest keg you can get capacity wise and do you have to line it?
I'd run one on a late 60's or 70's style FadT with milk truck wheels or Buffalo wires, but I wouldn't put too much money or time into a keg that has "This keg for deposit/rental only and will never be sold" like a lot of the one's you get from liquor stores are, because some day some liquor store owner/distributor might want to claim back his stolen property..! Kegs were usually put on "theme rods" the theme being a Beverly Hillbillys style joke/jalopy. If it makes you HAPPY have FUN with it!
I think I will file this keg/tank in the "what was I thinking" catagory. I just don't have the space to waste on my rpu. I kinda wish I had my 20 bucks back now.
A full keg is about 30 gallons. The kegs you usually get at the friendly local beer purveyor are about 15gals. The "pony" keg is about 7.5 and you can get 3 gallon sized if you want to try the new Belgian Hefeweissenheimer Dopple-Faart. How many dozen do you want today, sir?
Thanks KoppaK. The A is sold now. I miss it more than I thought I would. The guy who bought it said he was going to pt diamond plate in the cab! Man I hope he comes to his senses...
You're right, (close enough anyway) a keg is 31 US gallons. The "big" one's you usually see in bars are actually 1/2 kegs at 15-1/2 Gal. and that pony keg is 7-3/4 gal. a full
Use it there cool ! especially if it's your favorite beer like "Pabst " who cares what any one else thinks ! Are you building it for them or you ! my last T bucket I used a old 7 up cooler! my next one I got a gas tank off a MassyFergason tractor !
I was thinking of getting a larger keg, cutting it in half legthwise and putting it in my trunk as a tank. My only problem would be trying to not drink myself to death to put in a gas tank.
In practise kegs have a certain lifespan and then are scrapped. It might just be for cosmetic reasons as I'm not sure what harm beer does to them. I would be carefull using something to hold gas that had been deemed no longer suitable for beer. This could perhaps involve sanitation and sterilization. Obviously not applicable to motor fuel. So yes you can legally own one.
I ran one on a '23T in 1965, and plan on using one on my current project, a '27T roadster. FUCK THE REST!
I would have expected more positive response. I'm going to run one on my 33 I don't give a shit what you guys say I picked up a 15.5 dated 1968. It's going in the bed between the roll bars, About 1/2 will be visable above the bed.
