We’re currently building it as a ROG car but would love to find some of the body’s history. It has some pretty unique mods to it, such as the cowl cut out, dzues fasteners that held the deck lid on and 1/2 tube to reinforce the **** pit.

I’ll post more pics but here’s what I have for now.

    Any help would be awesome.

I love it...I saw several T's with rear engines but the driver postion was aft of what you have so no go but definitely a unique driving position...and cool project material and great for the spectacle you are using it for.

@Pete is that pic with 224 it?

  8. That 224 car is the Paul Schiefer T not the same car unfortunately. I will have a look & see if I can find anything. Car could well have run Bonneville as a modified roadster.

That last pic looks like a possibility, unfortunately most of those cars never had rear pics...just side shots.

The deck lid was held on with dzues fasteners

How about the car called "driverless T" where the driver was under the hood head first and looking out the grill shell ?

The key is the unique shape of the cowl cut out. It starts back at the cowl brace. The opening is very wide and curls in, toward the center as it travels forward to the front cowl edge.
It's not the Porter car as that ****pit opening is much smaller and of the wrong shape.
Finding a picture of a T Roadster with that shape cutout may lead to the iden***y of the car.

This one is close. "Shasta Roadster Club, Whipp-Hammond-Johnson from Redding, California ran this Cl*** A Modified Roadster 174.08 mph to claim 3rd in cl*** at Bonneville in 1959".

Good project, when were the rear engine T's legal to run? Knowing will help going through a stack of '50's issues of Hot Rod. Bob

  27. 1959 was the last year for Rear Engined Modified Roadsters they were banned after a number of high speed flips.
