My 56 truck project came without a steering column/box. Any suggestions on power steering boxes and aftermarket columns? Stock front suspension.
    Thanks

Manual stock box, with a few new parts and careful ***embly and adjustment and lubrication, works fine for me. With the big steering wheel, and not too wide of front tires, that is.

    And it looks right.

Beware kits that move the steering box location, and have short steering arms, the geometry might be off.

    I wonder where "local" is?

you can edit your profile, and add your location, so folks who may have one sitting around (I have 3 of them) can help you?

Just watch it a 55-57 column is 32 inches and a 58-59 is 30 inches due to the dished steering wheel.

actually the 55-56 column is long, the 57-59 is short. The steering wheel changed design in 1957, while the front sheet metal changed design in 1958.

No promises here My 56 but I do have a few 55 chevy 3100 truck parts at a different warehouse next town over and I do believe there might be a steering column/box in the heap. What else you looking for and I'll check it out today while I'm there.

If you plan a Mustang II steering swap, then you only need a column. Opens up a lot of choices.

  14. I have a good spare '55-7 steering column/box if you're interested.
