Does anyone know where to find a list of "firsts" things that a paticular Manufacture did before the others example , Electronic ignition , I say one company did it , a freind that prefers another brand says that another company did it .. Its a constant arguement, that I would just like to avoid i would like to have a list .. so I'll not have to listen to this each and every time I say something he does not agree with ... which is every time ..
Googled "automobile industry time line" and got= http://www.greatachievements.org/?id=3880 Lots of good info out there...H
Thanks for that , still need a better list -- Serious.. It always goes the same way, .. so and so made this 1st .. No they didn't !!! I need information, more than one source for back up or lock my garage door to keep him away .... He says Ford had electronic ignition in the 60's ? Is that true, let me know .. thats just one thing he came up with..
Yes, Ford had an optional transistorized ignition available for their high performance engines in the '60s, but so did General Motors. It was optional on GTOs from the start, as well as big block Corvettes. One of my older brother's buddies had a '66 427 'vette with it. Chrysler offered Bendix electronic fuel injection in '57, but it was so troublesome that they were recalled and retrofitted with carburetors. I guess a few still exist today that didn't go in for the recall. It doesn't matter how many lists you have for such things; someone will always give you an argument. There's a dork around here that HAS to argue every automotive point just to be contrary. If you told him that small block Chevrolet engines came out in '55, he'd give you some happy horseshit about how some late '54s had them!
Here's a start... http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blcar.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automotive_superlatives Mutt
I wouln't trust wiki as an end all argument. They had the wrong info on the largest I6 engine. I corrected it. They had it as a Ford 300. That's wrong. Oldsmobile had a 707 inch I6 in 1910.
you would think so... i had a 72 monte carlo that had a passenger side airbag but i divorced the bitch
