  1. Power is a very scary thing. Now HP and torque those are nuthin to be afraid of at all. You just have to be able to hang on. LOL

The wife and I had a 318 Furry II, kind of an ugley 4 door beast of a car when we first moved to Missouri our senior year in high school. We went to school on Small Town USA, and one morning a cop actually came and got me out of cl*** to tell me he saw me roasting the tires downtown. I told him, "Sir this is an underpowered sedan, it may chirp the tires if the street is wet or icy but roasting is a bit of a stretch and I have been in cl*** all morning." He said, "Well just watch yourself." :D :D In the ever famous words of Bugs Bunny, "What a maroon." ;)

In Oklahoma it's called "Excessive Acceleration" and I had plenty of those awards when I was a teenager. Mellowed out a little bit now. But, not much!!!

Spinning the rear wheels? making 200 yard skid marks? making so much smoke you can't see anything?
wheelies? spinning the rear tyres changing into top gear? not over here in the UK , no, never. Sounds dreadful.
OK.... just up the drive then. IMG_0117.jpg

  6. If a cop wants to award you with a summons, there are enough laws already. Best to maintain a low profile and save your bullets for real instances of 'It warnt me done that!'

My daddy always told me "Boy, if you get a ticket for anything, even if you didn't deserve it, pay the ticket and be thankful for all the times you should have gotten a ticket but didn't."

I've added up the cost so far, he was absolutely right, the few tickets I've had to pay for are nothing compared to the ones I should have gotten.

He also told me that there were only so many fights I was going to win, so I should pick the fights that are the important ones and leave the rest go. The older I get, the smarter I realize dad was. Gene

My friend in IL got once for "Improper start from a stop" for laying rubber many years ago. It's better than a reckless driving ticket, which is what you might get if there wasn't the "Improper start" law.
I don't think it's such a bad idea to make laying rubber a minor violation. As with most laws, how it's enforced it crucial. Laying rubber at an industrial park when there's no one around is no biggie, but people in quiet residential neighborhoods don't like hearing squealing tires in the early evening down at the corner stop sign. It might be relatively harmless, but it's unnerving to be in your living room playing with your three year old and hear that.

Same down here in New Zealand. Could get your car confi****ed for a month and on the 3rd offence it gets crushed. Mainly geared for the boy racer crowd though
