Looking to have a couple of Ford Flathead V8 blocks cleaned and checked for cracks, then possibly machined. Anyone now of a good shop in SW Michigan that would be knowledgable of these motors? The closer to Kalamazoo the better. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, CTJ

Thanks for the info. I would prefer someone closer to home if possible though.

We were taking our stuff up to a place in Muskegon. They did some inline and Buick motors for us. Very good old school and honest! Varny's on apple ave. hope that helps.

Reviving this thread from 5 years ago... needing exactly what ChopTopJimmy was looking for and for the same reason..
The place in Hartford appears to out of business, as is one that used to be in Watervliet. Can't find Millwood auto either. Holland outfit is possible but don't know if they know much about flatheads...

Scott, the machinist has years of experience on a variety of engines He has what makes a good machinist in being very particular. Small place and he's been doing it there for a very long time.

I use Adam's Engine in Howell. 517 220 6123. Kind of far from you, but they are very reasonable and do nice work.

I don't know your location. but if South Bend IN isn't too far, Kaley Motor Service does very good work. Their "shake and bake" process results in really clean blocks, heads etc.
