Finally getting back to my wagon project after Harvey. I've been able to keep up with the postings but no time to work on the wagon. Have a rebuilt 292 bored & stroked to 330 cu in. with a Bendtsen adapter/starter plate for 4R70w trans. mounted in the frame. I had a trans rebuilt by Broader Trans, in Weatherford Texas that should be here about March 10, so may actually be able to make some progress. I still have the stock Wagon rear (3:54 gears) with spring bushings/ shocks replaced and hope to use it for a short while, until I can build a good 9 inch. Front suspension hasnt been touched by me, other than putting in a new Goodells front crossmember. Suspension rebuild will follow driveline completion. And then the dual master powerbrake system, and oh yeah, The complete Holley EFI system, complete rewire ,and, and, ---Holy ****! Is there no end?

    Ho lotta work.
Have you checked out Fitech fuel injection? I've had one in my car for over two years with no problems other than a leaky intake manifold which was my fault. I don't know how much the Holley costs but Fitech runs less than $1000. There is even a Facebook page with tuning tips.
Post some pictures of your car when you get a chance.

I did do some research on the most popular EFI systems about a year ago, including Fitech, but so much has developed since then, I will have to update and look at all systems again before actually purchasing. Hopefully prices will lessen as more compe***on enters the market. Looks like its gonna be a while. I like the in tank returnless system with Hydramat that Holley has for retrofits. The less hanging under my ride, the better. The more people that relate their experiences, like you, carries more weight that any website. Thanks for that.

IMG_0772.JPG You asked for pictures? This may make the purist retch, but, yup, its yellow. Plans have been to paint body the same, white around windows, for several reasons but would rather go with dark root beer /silver. Plenty of time to decide. IMG_0739.JPG

The metallic root beer was actually my first choice, but the metallic needs to be shot on the entire car at the same time, or it will be 'splotchy' and uneven. I used Eastwoods single stage paint for the white around the window area, and it came out very well. I "jammed out" the body in Daytona yellow urethane, as I was about to hang the doors after refinishing those. Then I decided to do a frame off and everything changed. I know what I was drinkin, but what was I thinkin. I've never used a spray gun except for primer many years ago, but the Eastwood paint was very user friendly. I read up on all this, was precise on mixing , obsesed with the preparation, and it was as good an experience as is possible with this work. Came out very well, nice gloss, even without any clear. Anyway I let go of the metallic because I could paint the yellow in different times if I maintained and followed the same procedure. Cant possibly afford a custom metallic paint job, but I can build a spray booth and do my best, so it will probably end up root beer. So far down the line,

Man , I feel you . What counts is that you like it, the price and it coming out is a bonus..
I know I can’t afford custom paint right now that’s for sure..
