Hello all, Im new to this forum and honored to join and to be one of the members, even though ive been following and going through this forum since 2010. Finally registered after 8 years I bought and sold many cars and worked in couple projects but ive never had the opportunity to own a hotrod. Maybe it’s the right time to buy something. I was p***ing through a neighborhood a while ago and I thought I saw a pre 32 ford.. I stopped to take a closer look and it seems pretty stock except that it has been restored previously. Talked to the owner today and yes it is for sale. He said its a 29 I thought about sharing it with you guys before I offer him a price! Any idea how much it might worth in this condition?
Judging by the photos you posted I'd say the prior restoration don't mean much being it needs everything done again. It may be a good place to start but that's all it is. From 20 feet away it's neat. from 10 feet away it's Sad. The Wizzard
In the middle of the United States that is a $10,000 car. I don't even know where Qatar is, so I can't place a value on a car there.
From what can be seen in the pic's, she looks to be a solid early 1928 AR roadster. I say AR due to the red steering wheel and hand brake placement along the driver side inner cowl panel. As far as value, if in the USA ; I would guesstimate around $10,000.00 if as sound as it appears. Welcome to the HAMB ! (alchemy : you type faster than me, I concur.)
True.. it’s a project and im stripping all of it plus swapping a v8 so it won’t matter if it is restored or not but it all depends on the price which i have to work on. As khead47 mentioned, I would ask ford barn might get an approximate worth of it before i offer him my price
Jaber; Bring us up to speed on what the American car scene is like in Qatar if you would. How hard is it to find a project like you did? This is a Country we here (U.S.) hear very little if anything about. Maybe I should say, let's keep it Car related info. Can you get parts there or does everything you need come from off shore? Curious,, The Wizzard
I agree with Bowie, with the placement of the hand brake and the red steering wheel it appears it a early 1928 AR roadster and here in the States they rare & carry a higher premium that the run of the mill Ford Roadsters. HRP
Qatar is a country in the Middle East that gained independence from Britain in 1971. Officially known as the State of Qatar, the sovereign nation occupies the small Qatar Peninsula to the north east of the Arabian Peninsular. Qatar’s only land border is shared with Saudi Arabia. A thin section of the Persian Gulf separates it from Bahrain. The capital of Qatar is Doha. It is the country’s fastest growing city, with more than 50 per cent of Qatar’s 2.6 million citizens living in the centre or suburbs. Doha was founded in the 1820s as an offshoot of Al Bidda and was declared the Qatari capital after the country gained independence. EXPRESS Qatar is has been accused of funding terrorism by other Gulf nations What is Qatar’s GDP? Qatar has an extremely large GDP relative to its size and had the highest GDP per capita rate in the world. The Qatari economy is built upon the globe’s third largest natural gas and oil reserves. The UN cl***ify the Qatar as a “country of very high human development”.
Down here in the GCC region; Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, etc.. it not likely to fined cl***ic cars easily all the time.. for sure most of them are recently imported from the US however you may find original GCC specs that were imported back in the day, but rarely happens and most of them are sedans and trucks. 1940 + Power wagons, GMC and chevys, fords, and lots of japanese cars. Many car enthusiasts established cl***ic car clubs and each club contain a specific model, exactly like the US. We have an ***ociation for cl***ic GMC and chevy trucks that hold 87 and pre models as well as mopars, fords, etc.. it goes for modern cars to. However you still dont have a significant number of members comparing to the US due to the size of the population and car enthusiasts. Mopar car club contains less than a 100 members while chevy trucks club contains couple hundreds.. The car in the pictures was imported by the current owner from the US couple years ago. Not because he is a car enthusiast, but because he wanted a cl***ic car. Just any cl***ic car. That is why it is parked outside or in the front yard of his house and got rusted. So u either find people are very knowledgeable of what they are doing or they have no clue. Most of people are familiar with what the majority of people like; trucks and sedans. I bough a C30 chevy truck with 28000 original miles from Seattle university and it was in an exceptional condition.. converted to a stepside with one of my friends and did a first repaint ( I had to because of the conversion) owned it for 2 years, then sold it for about 43K!!! In dollars.. while 1969 Charger with 440 could go for less!! Unless the owner is aware of the car. The market is challenging here. Hotrods... I’ve seen a chevy late 30s model lowered and well customized but for sure it was brought recently. We have many stores provide rebuild kits and tuneup products but nothing special. However workshops may provide you the stuff you need or may may ask you to buy them off shore so they can get the work done wether for cl***ic cars or racing stuff .. yeah GM and japanese products are all over the place.. other than that you have to buy them from the US. Ive seen many cars kept parked in shops and houses for months due to the lack of parts. Easy to order, but it takes time. That still happen to me every while hahaha For this pre 32 ford, I should consider ordering every single bolt from overseas if I bought it.. the engine to.. there is nothing I can do here except the body work.. if it was a 32 I would rebuild its engine. But its a different case obviously. I lived in Denver for 5 years since 2009 and I kept going back and forth since then.. Im visiting Ohio and Cali next May, so buying stuff and shipping them any time in the future shouldn’t be a problem for me or for any car enthusiast but its costy!!
I agree that somewhere around the $10K mark would be right for here in the middle of the US, less if it's full of body filler and hidden damage, more if it is just a neglected but well restored car with an engine that turns over and maybe some upgrades that we can't see from the pictures. But they must be exceptionally hard to find in Qatar, and a great base for a hotrod, it might be worth quite a bit more, there.
Being located where you are I cant imagine you could effectively build a hot rod out of that car. Even just restoring it would be super difficult. I suggest you offer him $1000. Sell it to someone in the US for $9,000. Take the profit and use it towards buying and importing an already completed hot rod that needs nothing.
A lowball like that is likely to get him thrown off the property (or laughed off). And nobody likes a flipper. The OP didn't indicate whether he likes driving or wrenching most, so it's wrong to ***ume he should buy a complete car. Finding a stalled project is probably the most bang for the buck. It would give him the wrench time and get him on the road soonest.
That is a winner ! The date of manufacture is stamped in the lower left [driver's] of the gastank face... 6" from the outside, 1" above the seam... memory says it is stamped day/month/year... date is stamped in the tank, the tank could have been changed.
Is,nt Qatar one of those rich oil countries where they have DeTomaso,s & Lamborghini,s & Ferrari,s dumped in back alleys. I say lowball the owner. The thing is standing on the street with 4 flat tires just waiting to get towed away or set on fire. What does the owner have behind the high gate or in his garage ?
Could be a 29 as Henry was famous for shipping last years parts overseas on the exported "new models".
Is that a Roadster or a Sport coupe? I cannot tell from the picx If a Roadster, then it's much better than a Sport coupe. There is not much demand for the coupe
