I run aluminum flywheels in my 2 street cars and the Studebaker, always have and wouldn't have anything else. I went through the fad in the 60s of the 60 lb flywheels, the car left hard but I tore up more parts and found out quick that I didn't like the heavy wheel

I had one supposedly from a 427 Chevy in my '65 Belair... for a very short while. I was clueless to the fact that I needed an un-dampened disc to go with it, so it made this odd noise with the springs hitting the flywheel face. Other than that, it was okay to drive for a day. Switched back to the truck steel one and I could feel how much smoother the engine ran.

I ran a 9lb 'wheel behind a 427/425hp Chevy in my '64 Tempest. It was almost toooo much fun!

I used to run lightened aluminum flywheels in my old vw's back in the day. was great at the drag strip, however because those cars produced little torque it was horrible on the street. Went back to the stock one, was the best decision I made.
