Event Coverage Assuming the March Meet is.......?????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Gary Reynolds, Mar 3, 2018.

  1. not happening. It's pouring here in Van Nuys.
So is it a "rain delay" or cancelled?
Is the track even open? Snow on I-5???

Hasn't it only snowed ONCE in Bakersfield, I read about it, but once your off the Grapevine it should be smooth sailing.
Do they sell snow tires in the Valley Gary?:D

You have over 50 cars running nitro, what are the chances of an oil down? If it gets too cold the track goes away and nobody gets down,, very sad deal for the racers- but nobodys fault

  5. Forecast for Sunday is clear and COLD.

  6. Track is low 70s now. Gonna go south fast. Rnd 1 FC could get ugly later. It's cold there.

  7. Wow.
I see top speed and low ET is in FC, not top fuel.
More fuel altereds tham top fuelers!
Maybe it's time for some rule changes, maybe some new classes.
Still, the BEST racing around, but few new faces, same performance as nearly ten years ago!
I dunno, any thoughts? I stopped going, it costs about a thousand bucks (all things ) foe 3-4 days, same as the year before.
ALSO, why do they schedule the race so early in march? Way better weather later in the month.
    Not griping, just wondering!
If you have never been, GO NEXT YEAR!

I've been watching on Pay Per View. $19.59 for the 4 days. Between rain and oil downs they didn't even get through Funny Car, which was the first class up. Looks like there will be racing on Monday.

I don't think performance needs to improve. Reliability ( less oil on track & breakage) and holding the line on cost for the racers is probably more important.

I'm afraid it's the one thing on my bucket list I'll never get to see in person. Getting too old...
