Finally got some pictures loaded from the Highway Patrol on an accident that happened here in Kansas on Interstate 70 months ago... whatta ****in idiot. This trucker picked up the equipment, strapped it down, and jumped onto the highway ----- without ever lowering and securing the crane boom. Ripped the trailer apart, tore thru half of the overp*** bridge... funny now, but someone could've been killed. Check these out.
What a ****ing idiot. The funny thing is, the shovel and arm look pretty un****hed...minus all the broken and bent rams/lines. The arm itself looks better than the rest of the rig.
That is WILD! I am convinced that about half of the people driving have no business behind the wheel of anything and that includes truck drivers.
Holy cow... were real charges, like "Criminal stupidity" or something, filed or just some "failure to secure load" ****??
when i used to work at a construction firm, one of the truckdrivers loaded up a 410 JD backhoe and took off down the road...forgot to lower the boom, ripped a few lights down and demolished a couple of road signs, but happily nothing that bad.
Greg where was that? Looks pretty flat- musta been more west, out by you? Exit #258? Looks like the boom punctured up through the deck.
Actually, your facts on this are not quite right. He did in fact lower the boom. The impact of the bridge raised it back up. My guess if the boom was raised like you say, it would have flipped the equipment over backwards and less damage to the trailer. None the less, he's still an idiot for not knowing his ride height exceed the clearance of the bridge. Just a little less of an idiot.
Had that happen 3 times here last year, overp*** was out of comission for a few months from the first one, a week after it was opened back up, some dumb *** did it again. Wish I could find the pics, he was hauling a large spool of cable that caught the bottom of the overp***. Truck stayed attached. 60 mph to 0 in about 30', ouch.
ROFLMFAO!!!! yeah, I love to see **** like that, so ****in funny, hahahaha. Thats awesome, thanks for sharing!
When I worked for Harnischfeger P&H before they sold to the Japanese, we made the yellow and black rubber-tired rough terrain cranes. The railroad cars were pushed into the plant and the cranes were mounted and blocked in the factory. Some railroad guys reloaded one that the car broke down on and didn't look at how it had been tied. The railroad sent us a bill for 22 miles of telephone poles and cables they tore up when the boom swung out over the side and it wasn't noticed. The serial number of the flatcar didn't match the serial number of the one the crane was loaded on and a couple railroaders lost their jobs.
i remember that one, stupid *****...wasn't the back full of cinder blocks. it was so heavy that the shocks had punched through the towers in the back!!!
Looks like the VW van that loaded about the same amount of material on the roof at one of our Home Depots. Only difference was; he added 40 - 24ft 2x4's that stuck through the back hatch and rested on the backrest of the front seats. (I was there and counted them!! ) When pulled away the rear wheels collapsed and the 2x4's punched the windshield out and the roof TOTALY collapsed! The yard guy tried to warn him; but nooo ... he knew better!
