Frank Burrell flathead Cad intakes being repopped?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by PEDDRO, Jun 29, 2006.

  1. I hear that the 2x2 flathead intakes for Cadillac/La Salle are being repopped but can't find any info on this being fact and so obviously don't know who's doing them. Supposedly it's off the original tooling. I've seen pics of a Frank Burrell that's being passed as "new"....???

Anyone know anything? Would sure appreciated some info if you've got it.

    You heard right.
His son repopped 3. One went to Denmark for Palle Johannsen (SP*) from here on the hamb he's "emiliedk". Not sure about #2, and #3 is currently on ePay.

They are super sweet, but I had heard that the casting isn't that high of a quality. I may be wrong, but Palle never replied to me when I asked about it.

I'd like to see those molds go for a run out of the foundry Cyclone Kevin, and Savage use in Socal. They kick out some HIGH quality stuff.

I was under the understanding from Palle that they were going to do more, and the ePay auction was to litmus test the waters for them. Going rate is $600 from Burrell I'm told.
I'll get in line for one, if the castings are nice, but like I said they don't look all that great. More like a foundry issue.

I thought this may be a fitting tribute: This restoration was just finished this morning for a trip to the 2018 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. The car is a One-Off 1939 LaSalle bodied by Bohman & Schwartz of Pasadena, CA. The intake manifold is experimental Frank Burrell.

He has been doing small batches on and off for a good number of years now.
You just need to keep an eye out on ebay or find a way of contacting him.
I believe others down under have found him by email.
Just not a cheap purchase but nice all the same.

Yeah Peddro, like the man says step up or step back... hahaha.

What the hell was that statement all about...

Sounds like the two step to me.

A 12 year old thread resurrected, but I have a question: What does the Burrell flatCad intake have over a 2X2 Edmunds?

I'd be happy to own either version, but personally prefer the look of the Burrell intake.
Fortunately for the flat caddy guys, Burrell is a source that remains to date, whereas the Edmunds items are available from time to time and do go for good $'s.

I've never heard of any comparisons that have been done to test which my have the best performance characteristics!

Burrell being in the market is probably also helping to keep a lid on the price of Edmunds items as well...
    Supply and demand etc.
