The flip side of that, is that had I started with a sedan, I'd be driving now!

The sedan seems less complicated and usually can be driven less complete. The sedans are usually in better shape. My convertible was just shy of being broken in half due to the rusted rocker boxes and floors caused by the leaky top, and they all leaked! Took a while just to get the body to sit right on the frame, let alone to get th doors to open and shut right. Never underestimate the value of a steel roof!

I guess you are right when we consider these rides are 70 years old!

^^^ Other than those embarrassingly god-awful intake stacks this '41 is pretty tasty. ^^^

It depends on where the car spent it's life. When I bought my 41 in 92 it was an western Iowa car and the fella who helped me build it was fond of saying we took about a teacup full of rust out of it. Of course that was 26 years ago

  26. Hi Guys
Can anyone tell me what this dash is supposed to be in when used in an original Ford.
This pic is from a magazine where the guy made a sportsman type convertible from a 46 Ford Sedan but here in Australia it is unlike any other 41/48 Ford Dash that I have seen.
I need one of these Dashes because it has a large rectangular instrument panel hole, normal Aussie Dashes have a long skinny instrument panel.
Maybe it is from a Mercury ????????
    Any help would be appreciated.

That's too bad! How badly damaged is the roof on the car? Could you get under there with a hydraulic jack and some timbers and try to lift the building roof off the car even a little bit to prevent any further damage?

Good luck with it and if you do decide to lift the roof please be careful. We don't need another HAMBer with the word "Emeritus" in their avatar!

  28. That is a 41 Ford dash, but you are right, the instrument hole is way too big. Has it been altered?

  29. Yep, '41 Ford/Mercury, but the gauge cluster hole is too big...
