Essex 025.jpg DSCN0600.jpg Essex 026.jpg Here are some pics taken just before Ivan bought it in '09. That is me on the left (I was 24 when I bought it in 68), my son who was not even here then and his sons. My son and his younger brother grew up with this car. It is also my avatar.

Yes, it is a convertible. Here are a couple more pics. The first is from the late '40a or early '50s when it had the original straight 8 engine modified. The second is what it looked like when I bought it in '68 with the Carson top and Cadillac engine. That pic was taken in 1961, about the first time I saw it.

I used the term "conv coupe" earlier. Some car companies call them cabriolets, and some call them convertible coupes. same thing, different name.:D

    either way, it's a beauty.

    Hey De Soto,
It's been about 6 years since your OP. Anything done to the coupe?

Not many to be had. Even sedans are rare. Beautiful ride Frank.

Frank, ..... No .. he put it on the back burner & built a Chevy pick up ... Then had a Baby boy who is now 4.
Has acquired a lot of the parts to start, But I think he's Scared .... LOL !

  12. ...not a hot rod but I thot I'd throw this one in,...unrestored original 33 sedan I sold a couple years ago with just 30,000 miles on the clock,...went to a guy who will keep it as is...

  13. This straight 1931 Essex coupe is destine to be a hotrod. Rear window has pot shots. The engine is rusted and missing parts. the interior was shredded. Based on the size of the animal paws on the door , I would call this one a raccoon rod. Doors close like new! IMG_1654.JPG IMG_1655.JPG IMG_1658.JPG IMG_1660.JPG IMG_1661.JPG
