What does the gizmo look like that actuates this throw out bearing cross shaft?
If running a soon to be installed '39 Ford clutch/brake pedal ***embly what are my options for hook up? Pic's would be awesome & preferred! Thanks!

Here are some pictures. I hope they help. Mine is a 40 set up and I think the 39 ***embly is different. I attached a thread on the differences.https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/40-vs-39-brake-clutch-pedals.229751/
As a side note. I traded a 39 clutch ***embly to Dave Mehalich for a set of fenders a few years ago. he may still have it.

The arm has a split bronze bushing that goes in the socket and a seal.

Using a new Drake '39 C/B pedal ***embly, not pictured yet.

At this stage I really don't want to pull trans and such to swap cross shafts. The main reason is my center clutch/brake shaft is not centered to the throw out bearing shaft, so I was hoping I could make an end for the throw out bearing shaft and use a bell crank system to get to it?

I cut off the cross shaft lever and welded it to the end of the throwout shaft and used a linkage to the pedal.

Nice clear picture Phil. I did something similar a long time ago on a forty. I remember pinning the the clutch pedal to the shaft so I could put the link lever (or whatever you call it) on the inside end. I think I had to do a little reaming of the shaft bushings so the shaft would rotate freely within the bushings. I was hooking up a chevy 3 speed transmission at the time. It worked very well as I remember it after almost 50 years......

It takes time & effort to respond to a thread especially with pic's and links. Really appreciate it from all above!
Well after spending way more time than it should have taken to really look over all the pic's I came to the conclusion that I have seen these parts before. Seems I knew all this stuff at some point in my life and I found the proof in an Apple bin full of old parts from my childhood. Some is obviously Ford but some, the pivot balls, look to small. What size ball should fit inside what I call a "Z" bar?
Is the throw out bearing shaft in pic a Ford and if so what year? Thanks again!

Your recent pics show what is probably a 40 pedal set (look on them for a casting number beginning with "O1A") and at least one of those cross shafts (Z bars) will probably be O1A also. Those should bolt up to the release shaft you currently have in your trans. Buy one of the pivot balls like PN O1A-7507 shown above from Drake. Then the only thing you would be missing is the little stiffener brace for under the X rail, which could be made out of some steel stock.

You are correct again, 01A, I should be able to do something with what I have on hand.
Hate to order & wait for just ball, any one have a diameter?

In addition to the ball you will need the curved (br***?) inserts that go around the ball in the end of the Z bar. So, might as well order them at the same time.

Since you are building a hot rod you might also want to know an alternative to the offset-mount ball could be a straight-mount ball from an F-1 pickup. See if you can find one at VanPelt, or your other favorite parts vendor. It might fit better in your situation.

Is there a supplier for a rebuilt, stock spec '40 Ford Master Cyl. just like in pic?
I did a search but the ones that show up are either street rod Corvette type or don't look the same physically. Room wise I can't afford much diff. in physical size.
I fully understand the safety issues with single reservoir over dual....................

  15. I just bought a New one from Jack Corley last year. Exact looking replacement. Seem to remember $40.00. He's close to ya and ships fast. You see him at all the NW swap meets. Call him 503-667-1725 He's in Gresham.
