  6. Looks like a Ford FMX 3 speed...casting number designates 72 up....
     
  7. Yep, a FMX. Can't tell which bell it has, but would have been behind a 351-400 cube motor. Good trans, but not really good for performance applications.
     
  8. No, not correct for 1953 Merc or Ford. 53 was still air cooled, note the cooler line fittings. It's also a floor shift model with the shift linkage arm pointing up. If the Rag wasn't there you might also see a N start and back up light switch. None of that is correct till 65 I believe.
