Without going into too much detail I have a set of vortec sbc heads that have had the guides machined a little too far to hold the .530 positive seals. The only solution I can think of is to use umbrella seals, but I have heard conflicting info on weather or not I need the o rings in conjunction with the umbrella seals or if I can run them by themselves. The vortec valves are single groove so if I need the ring I will need new two groove valves. Sent from my XT1635-01 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You can and should run the umbrella seals buy them selves. NO need for the small 'O' ring, that is what the umbrella seals replace. The next thing that can be done is to cut the valve guide down MORE to the .500 size.
do you mean diameter or height is off? I would do what it takes to run a positive seal any good machinest should be able to do it
Valve guide .500 cut down to the bottom, or top of the spring seat. Most replacement guides are .500(.501-.502 for fit).
