CCR=awesome. I listen to A LOT of punk. But one of my favorite shows was seeing Steely Dan. A lotta grass was around then. I don't know about the "c-c-revisited" deal though. I am sure I will see them soon if the price is right, soon. All I can say is...nothing. Thanks for the clip. Awesome.

That's awesome, I love CCR. What's unbelievable is The original drummer has a band now called Credence Clearwater Revisited and they sold out 2 concerts last summer at the local outdoor theatre here. John Fogerty was CCR,why would you want to spend money to see a cover band doing these songs? It happens a lot with old bands, the original guitar tech or someone reunites " The Kingbees" or any other old band and people flock to see them.
    Good example, "The Beach Boys".......

  5. Love that swampy sound! From a time period when many bands sound, shall we say, dated, this band really stands the test of time. It's alot like some rods from that time .Thanks for posting.

I don't know if you really want to waste your money. I saw Revisited at the Wyoming Sweetwater County Fair, which isn't saying much for them. Anyway, its just a bunch of old boys beating out songs they didn't write for a buck with a guy that's not John Fogerty doing his best impression of John Fogerty. I wasn't too impressed. Fogerty put out a pretty decent album as of late and I think he did a tour. How bad ass would it be to see him live.

it looks like Fogerty's pants were cut from the same sheet of vinyl that the couch he's sitting on was made with. CCR was one of the best.

Has somebody put the Kingbees back together or was that just an example?

You are talking about the 80's quasi rockabilly Kingbees, right?

I'd put them in my top 10 bands ever as well and that's saying a lot since they're not from the 50's. If you guys get the chance, check out the Golliwogs and the Blue Velvets - it's pre-Creedence Creedence. As great as Creedence is, there's an energy in the Golliwogs and Blue Velvets that's amazing and not in a lot of the later stuff you hear on the radio. It was like discovering that I hadn't heard half the best stuff CCR put out.

BIG Creedence fan!! It always seemed perfect in my old '51 Chev, Creedence & Motorhead! HAHA.

Haven't heard any Fogerty since Centrefield. I liked that album but haven't heard it in 10 years. God. I AM getting old!!

Still have some Creedence though. Guess that sums it up?

    Dennis Wilson = DEAD
    Carl Wilson = DEAD
    Brian Wilson = BRAIN DEAD
    Al Jardine = RETIRED

    Who's left??

  17. "Born on the Bayou" I think this footage was shot at one of their very last shows anywhere at the Cow Palace in Daly City about 1971. There is very little existing film or video of them unfortunately. Maybe some Don Kirschner "Midnight Specials". Notice that the footage is flopped. Fogarty is not a left handed guitar player.
Creedence was great and I still have all of their records which I bought when I was a kid. Worn but not worn out.

They broke up in 71 or 72. I heard the news on the radio and I was stunned. I remember exactly where I was at the time. Rhythym guitarist Tom Fogarty died shortly thereafter of complications from his drug addiction (heroin).
John recorded solo albuma and bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford formed another band (name eludes me) and had some success. They later formed the CCR Revisited.

John Fogarty has resisted all suggestion of a reunion. There was a bitter legal battle over song writing credits and royalties and Fogarty didn't speak to the other two guys for years. I think they have buried the hatchet but no collaboration has happened. It sure would be a great thing in my opinion.

Funny thing about that "Bayou" and "Swamp" sound, they are all local East Bay boys from El Cerrito or vicinity. Doesn't matter. John Fogarty was and remains a proficient guitar player. They had hit after hit after hit in heavy radio rotation. I still stop and listen whenever I hear them.

And be advised, gentlemen, at one time I had CCR on 4-track tape. There is your Friday obsolete gadget challenge.:D

I saw Credence clearwater REVISITED lat year in Georgia. They had Elliot Easton from the Cars playing lead guitar and a guy that looked like Shrek but sounded REaL good from a 60's group called People singing lead....
    They were AWSOME.
Elliot's guitar was SWEET, and the lead could actually SING.

    MUCH better than the original

Fogerty hasn't lost a damn thing. He sold the rights at some point to the original music (CCR), & then started recording solo shtuff. He was SUED & LOST for "sounding too much like CCR"!!!!! He had to CHANGE his SOUND & STYLE in order to continue recording! He still turned out some great shit. Centerfield & Blue moon swamp are great.

No shit. Our court system is fucking nuts to have ruled against him!
And I heard recently that he *had* gotten back together with the record company that sued him...
BTW: John Foggerty - the CLEANEST guitar picker to ever live!!!

I saw Fogerty just after the release of Premonition back in '98. This is a great live album, and about as close as you could get to hearing a modern day version of CCR. Fogerty had great stage presence and could still wail on guitar and vocals. As others have mentioned, the songs and sounds of CCR have stood the test of time. And Fogerty's energy and arrangements of the songs, made it more like hearing them for the first time, as opposed to some demographics-driven-nostalgia-rock-rehash, doled out to the masses to make a few bucks. For those that care, the ever versatile, roots-rocker Kenny Aranoff played drums on Premonition. If you're looking for fresh versions of the CCR classics you already know and love (as well as a few choice cuts from Blue Moon Swamp), definitely pick up this live album.

Since we are off-topic already, there was a kick-ass group that opened for Fogerty called "Sister 7". I believe they are/were based out of Austin, and played a mix of hard(ish) rock and funk... definitely a tight sound. The female lead singer was insanely hot, and could sing like nobody's business. I'm not saying they were breaking a lot of new ground musically, but they were one hell of an opening act.
