I got a stone stock 1932 Ford rear axle & spring with my Vicky parts. Is there any value to this rear vs. other pre 1939 Ford rears?
Well, it fits a '32...that always pushes the price up...the rare late axle is worth more than the early. Is the flange joining torque tube to banjo round or hexagonal?? Never mind, I'll come haul it away either way... Still looking for the Ambler flyer. It's in my damn bedroom and I can't find it...just my bedroom is an imoenetrable jungle of Ford paper, without even discussing the other 99 major heaps of paper...
Also, '32-4 springs are the only ones that fit without work in a '32, and they can't easily be used on later axles; coversion involves altering spring or x member a bit and keeping proper spring with axle.
If it's got the 3.78 gears in it, it would be desired by many. None of my 32 rears have the numbers stamped into the housing underneath like the later years do. I bought one Deuce rear based on the numbers on the speedo hook up. It turned out to be correct and had the 3.78 gear set. I was pleased. The curved rear spring (32-34) is not easy to find anymore. I'm not a tire smoker and I'm running a stock Deuce rear in the coupe.
The round flange rear (probably 95% of what's out there) uses same gears and axles as Model A. The late one is straddle pinion and uses same innards as '33-4.
I have the early 32 round flange, is this the same diff used with the v8 engine. what ratio would this be.
You can check the numbers on the speedo cable connector but the only way to tell for sure is to separate the bells and count the teeth. My V8 had a 4.11 in it.
