Just picked up this frame at a swap and would like to get positive ID on the years s and models it fits 44 3/4' long at longest point measured from the front using the curve 13 3/4' tall at center Thanks it may be 40 but would like to get the range it covers
The 1940 Ford had "fixed" windshield - ie did not crank out. The above frames look like 1939 Car frames. I have 2 39 coupes - one is original gl*** and frame where the chrome plating is thin in places - but the original gl*** is nice - so I will not mess with it - the other frame was rusty and broken gl*** - so I blasted it and painted it - then replaced the gl***. We have 1940 Coupes, Sedan Delivery, Panel Delivery and a 1/2 ton pick up - all have fixed windshield gl***.
Are truck and car the same in this case?? Trying to post it for sale and wnat to get it correct... Thanks
'37-'39 car and truck (except convertibles, station wagons, and cabover trucks) all interchange. Standard car and most truck windshield frames were painted, Deluxe car frames were chromed and the chromed frame was optional on trucks. Note the seam where it comes apart to install the gl***. That seam is at the midpoint of each side on all '37 and most '38 frames, the late '38 and all '39 frames have the seam closer to the bottom, but both types are interchangeable.
