I post this on Facebook, but for those that don't have it here is a look into what I've been up to the last few weeks. I bought this car in 2010 and drove it for almost a year. As usual life took its tole on my ability to complete any work a few years ago. Now that I live in North Carolina, have a two car garage and more time on my hands I'm back at it again. This week I've been busy degreasing the frame and ***** rust for powder coat prep work. I'm trying to spend that elbow grease to save money. The only issue I have right now is knowing where to go for the powder coating that is not more than five hours away from the East Coast of North Carolina. The closest place to me is in Wilmington, NC, but I'd like more than one option.
After the frame is off to powder, its onto the body which needs tons of metal work. Soon I'll learn how to weld and when I feel confident enough, begin on the floor pans I purchased from EMS last year. I may need more than just prayers for this body since someone previously really did a number on over heating the patch panels. I'm sure my patience will come in handy during that part of the job. Any help you can give in the form of advice or recommendations for the powder coaters and welding is greatly appreciated. 29497804_10156298583261514_4256700873389747192_n.jpg 29512253_10156298583316514_6871505628109398109_n.jpg

The beginning of last weeks work. I'll snap some more pic tomorrow to show the difference on the front since it was the most caked on with grease and grime. The rear axle will be quite a chore too. 29496787_10156298583331514_3918431952691251296_n.jpg 29433317_10156288211391514_8956889721527599104_n.jpg

congratulations! It looks like you have a good start on it. I can't help with someone to coat it, though.

Looks like you need to bust out the old oven cleaner for cleaning the frame works great.. I use it on everything that's greasy works great.

Use the oven cleaner outside only and get the $$ store stuff. Not the lemon smelling one, it has to be the nasty full strength formula to do the dirty work.
