G'day all, I've just found myself a 1948 pontiac with most of the hard work done. She needs weather stripping on the doors and trunk and there's no rubbers under the hood. Can anyone advise me what's needed as I'm struggling to even know where to look. I'm not sure of I should just go to the local auto store and grab some generic seals or best to buy one of these complete kits online? What needs to go where? Your assistance is appreciated! That late model chassis may not be a bad thing , once you figure iout what it's from . The the stock front end isn't bad when it's working . Once the lever action shocks go bad they are not easy to rebuild and if they need to be out right replaced good luck. G'day, nice looking Pontiac. You'll find a lot of the stuff is the same as Chev, try searching under 41-48 Fleetline, or Aero sedan. The boot seal is a body-style only job (I bought one from the U.S., and it will only fit the aerosedan , not the standard sedan ).The new moulded doorseals will fit nice, but even those are pricey once landed. I used a generic "D" shaped hollow moulding, and glued down the flat part of the "D". The boot seal is a strange beast, and there is nothing I could find here in Aust which will fit.
What model Pontiac 25/27 ('A' body, Torpedo) or 26/28 ('B' body, Streamliner)? There may be some differences. Looks to be 'B' body with longer door caps. I believe coupe doors are shorter so be careful
I don't know how much interchange there is between GM models of that era but I & I Reproductions offers Chevy, Fusick offers Olds and Chevs of the 40s obviously is Chevy.
Cheers mate, My understanding is that the model I have is the 122 inch wheelbase and I thought that was different to the chevs? I thought they only came out with 119 inch wheelbase and assumed all the panels would be different as a result? I want to Clark Rubber today and grabbed some samples. Did you glue the D to the door or door frame? I've found an extrusion that looks like it might come close but who knows. Appreciate the suggestions! Is California Pontiac Restoration still around. When I had my 35 , they had lots of stuff and were good to deal with.
My understanding is that it's the 122 inch wheelbase, b body streamliner silver streak but I'm not 100% It was sold to me as a 1947 model but some old documents the seller had state it's a 1948. The 'A' bodied Torpedo was on a 119" WB, the 'B' bodied Streamliner was on the 122" WB. This is the same platform as Oldsmobile 70 series , Buick 40 series and Cadillac 61 series. Where in Australia are you? I bought all my rubbers from Steele, not cheap but do it right, do it once, you won't regret the expense later.

You know by now I'm sure but your beautiful ride is a 1948 Streamliner. The 1947 Streamliner had painted "speed lines" or "speed streaks" The 1948 has a single chrome bar instead and the silver streaks (hood and trunk) were reduced to 3, from 5 a year prior.
If you can afford it buy from Steels Rubber there is another option is getting the the right profile in length and making your own to fit... I've used Metro Moulded Parts Minneapolis...for sections of rubber I could't find any where else..resonable prices....
