Ordered a pair of wheels from Jegs last week and never received a "confirmation email". So I email their customer service department and asked: "What's up"? Get a reply back the next day stating: "we have ordered your wheels from the manufacturer, should be shipped on or about September 4th... Sorry for the delay, hope it's not an inconvenience! Needless to say, I told them this was NOT acceptable and canceled the order. This was not a "custom order" but straight out of their online catalog clearly stating: in stock- ships within 24hrs! Ordered a pair from Speedway this morning and they already shipped! By the way, I've ordered dozens of times from Jegs without any problems.
I have never ever bought anything from Jegs. For some reason I get their catalog, which is hard to read since the print is so small. Like 5-lbs of **** in a 2-pound bag.
maybe their system put in the wrong part number, or read the date wrong - either way Jeg's should have offered to verify everything for you.
Theres always Summit. Just a sign of the times. Companies like Jegs don't have to keep a large parts inventory drop shipping from the manufacturer.
I thought so too at first, I got the date first from "customer service", then in a separate email from the " shipping department". Back when I was running " sbc's" I used Jegs for lots of stuff. Now that I'm back to "Mopar" they don't carry much...
I got a similar message once. Ordered 4 wheels for my Galaxie- pretty standard 15" steelies, in stock. I noticed one box had been opened and re-taped shut. Huh. So I check and sure enough it is completely wrong. Check the tag and it matches the order- obviously a mislabel. I call Jeg's. The CS rep apologizes and offers a pickup tag and to send another wheel... in 4-6 weeks when it restocks. I politely declined, and told him to just credit me. I then mentioned I marked the box as mislabeled so this wouldn't happen to the next guy. He matter-of-factly states, "Oh, we'd never do that". So I politely pointed out that's exactly what they f***ing did to me. I like Summit now.
I've got a Summit story too! Maybe 15 or so years ago, I ordered a cowl induction "style" hood for an OT '70 El Camino. When the delivery arrived it was a replica hood, without the air induction parts. (Another $150 worth of parts I didn't need!)! Wouldn't work for my application. Called them up and they said: "no problem, send it back and we will ship the right one". Next one arrived- right hood, big dent in the cowl! Called them up, told them I was sending it back. They replied: "Can't you fix the dent"? I didn't order a new hood to do body work to it. They said that they had one more in stock, and would ship it right away. (Meanwhile, I have a buddy in a body shop all ready to paint the hood "candy apple red metalflake" to match the paint on the El...) The package finally arrived, pulled the hood out, lo and behold: a dent free hood for a first gen Camaro! Sent that one back and just kinda gave up. Summit refused to refund my $91 shipping fee. Didn't order from them again for 12 years.
I've never had any issues whatsoever with Jegs, Summit, Speedway, Macs or Ecklers. Sometimes they do drop ship from manufacturer but fortunately I don't care being so far away, as long as I get it. I'm more worried about foreign currency conversion, freight cost and taxes; and delivery within a reasonable time frame.
That's the first problem I've had with Jegs. I was really surprised they didn't contact me, letting me know my wheels would be back ordered for six months! Needless to say, I would use them again, if need be...
That seems very strange. Almost every place I order anything from sends an order received Email almost immediately after I order with a scheduled shipping day. Then they send one when it's shipped and one when it's delivered. If something is going to be delayed they should notify the customer immediately. I know all about having the wrong parts sent out a couple of times. I got a set of brke rotors for an off topic car and they were badly packed and the correct size rotors but the wrong bolt pattern. The number on the rotor was the correct number. The manufacturer suggested that I had the wrong application. I had to inform them that every one of these vehicles ever made use the same bolt pattern and I had ordered wheels from them that fit. I also told them that if they looked at their reviews for this item, somebody bought the same set a couple of weeks earlier and the bolt pattern was wrong. I think I got the set that was returned. I engraved wrong bolt pattern in the surface and also painted it on them.
My weapon of choice is Summit. No problem with returns and they sent me a set of Dart heads with the wrong size rocker studs, I had specified 7/16" studs and got 3/8" studs. These was a mix-up between Summit and Dart as the parts shipped from Dart. Long story made short, they swapped out the studs and give me a refund on the wrong studs... odd since they were part of the kit and not a separate item.
Recently ordered a part from Jegs that was "out of stock, anticipated will ship on **)". Date was the next week. I ordered it. Got my confirmation that all the other stuff shipped then a couple days later got another "we apologize......new ship date", it was 3 weeks later. Still not an issue but not real happy. The next week I got the part! The day after I got the part I got an email stating my new ship date was the first day of the following week. I already had the part in my hands! I don't think all their computers are talking to each other right these days..... SPark
