Scored a decent switch. No more excuses not to do this little upgrade. Followed other members aproach on how to place the part and used a 11 ga steel leftover I had laying around. Came out pretty nice and sturdy. I'm planing on drilling, tapping and bolting it onto the pedal frame. If anyone needs to fab this bracket I can save you some back and neck pain by suplying some measurements or whatever. Ask away while it is still on the workbench.
Hey Eric, I'd like to own metalshaping machinery, sure, but I don't. Maybe some day.. That was bent with just a heavy hammer, two pieces of 2x1 wood and a bench vise. Then bench grinder, drill, files and so forth.
Outstanding! This is something I've been thinking about doing but wasn't sure exactly how to go about it.
Thats the way to go about it, very good. I see your dash was out of the way. Other way would be to remove the pedal.
Speaking of pedal - rebuilt/repainted the hole ***embly - went to install it, grabbed it by the clutch pedal arm, clutch ***ist spring compressed smashed 2 fingers between the mount bracket, fingers swollen twice their size and should have got s***ches. let alone getting my fingers out with 1 hand and a my foot! By all means, if you take the ***embly out, disconnect the clutch ***ist spring like the little man in my head was telling me before I played stupid.
I have access to lasers and press brakes and I gotta say that is one well made bracket. Good on you ...
Exactly how I did mine, mine was done with dash in the car, making adjusting the switch a bear for an old guy trying to be a contortionist, but except for that, mine's been trouble free. I see your's has a br*** housing/thread mount, that's good!
Great job on that bracket, Rui!! difficult to do with the bends so close to one another. Shame to hide it under the dash, lol.
Thanks guys, but its much harder to measure and mount it putting yourself in bad positions than to do those bends: On a s**** piece: 1 bend That bend is beneath the wood. Adjust height for 2nd bend and hold firmly, then bend: And you've got your S: Of course that was done careless and with hands only. Another piece of wood and a heavy hammer will provide defined edges on higher ga metal.
I like it too. I should have had you make me one - yours looks much stronger than my cobbled up excuse for a bracket lol!
we had a company here that had a commercial where the kids would say mr. blah blah you make good cookies.in your case mr rui you make nice brackets
New sideline business venture ? The Rui Bracket will solve your brake light sender dilemma! But wait there's more!
