this is an old message that I'm bringing back to the top because it happened again....read on for the coolest speed part ever.
Yes, very much so. I found two drag axles for sale yesterday and could only afford one (and I'm not sure I really could afford it but I bought it anyway. I'll just stop eating for the rest of the year). I thought someone else might want to join me in the insanity. Randy, I think it is. There were a bunch of us wanting them but I was at the front of the line. I can check if you want. They ain't cheap. It's the most expensive speed part I've ever bought by a long shot.
I planned to use the smaller ones I have had but I'm not sure I'd have the courage to flip the on switch for 1000 instant horsepower that can't be turned off in any car that I own. There is a fine line between courage and wanting to die.
Okay... confusion setting in... ears bleeding... 1000 instant horsepower from a drag axle? ... must find nurse... room spinning...
it sounds more like it's an instant engine grenade recipe...sift forged pistons, chrome moly rings, forged crank and rods, stir in a balanced rotating ***embly, blend in a 1,000hp turbonique and BOOM!!!...it's done...hahaha
might be true if a turboniques axle actually WENT on the engine, LOL.... i sih i could have chimed in and gotten the other one... good luck scooby, like im sure you knew, my friend decided against it, he just got a house, otherwise his pontiac would be 5 ft in the air right now!!
This should answer some of your questions. An ad for the 1000hp drag axle is here. http://www.almar.easynet.be/turbonique.htm http://www.almar.easynet.be/mustang_axle.jpeg

WOW! That has to be one of the coolest/weirdest things that I have ever seen.(thanks for the links skajaquada and Relic Stew) It would seem that a fuel regulator should not be too difficult to build to make them "streetable" if one was to dare. Looks like they were pretty proud of them back in the sixties, I could just imagine what one would go for these days.
basically, yea. its a "regular" axle that uses rocket thrust for auxilary power scooby, ive been following these things for a while. Although i doubt ill ever have enough dough to drop on one, they are cool as hell, and pics are very much welcome. I yearn to grow up to be a broke rare speed part collector, just like you
so the go kart flew??????????????????????????????????????i would like to shake the hand of the guy who got in that thing..........if he is still alive,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
sounds preety similar to shoving a scud missile in your ***! you have to post some pictures. sweet score and good luck
yeah, I really thought the last one was a once in a lifetime find. They were like $3500.00 in 1967...that's more than most whole cars. I can't imagine that they sold more than about 10 of these at that price but maybe I'm wrong. This one has been sitting in a garage in Florida since 1967 still in the box. I can't imagine ponying up that kind of dough back then and then not using it and leaving it in the back of your shop for the next 50 years.
Whoops I've read about them and thats it never seen one. What is the fuel for them and where is it stored?
