I just put down $20 for a couple 2" x 36" pieces of 1/8" steel at the local HD cuz that's all that I could find on short notice, and about had a heart attack. Anyone know where I can get good small amounts of steel. i'm going to be needing some sheets of 18ga. soon to fill some of the many, many holes in my T, some angle iron pieces, etc.

Is there a Metals Supermarket in the region? Small quantities, great pricing

Try Westbrook Metals just off of Aiport & Lamar. They are not super cheap but they have everything you could imagine.

  4. We stopped at a fab shop on the garage crawl while at the Round Up a few weeks ago. HAMBer Skotz, I think. He might be able to help or point you in the right direction. Don't remember the address. North west Austin?

  5. Skotz should be able to point you in the right direction. I use Lockhart sheetmetal in the Well's Branch area. They are off of Hydro.
If your looking for scrap pieces, there is A&P, a scrap yard, on Dessau Rd. in the same area.

Central machine on Cesar Chaves. great prices, and make sure you look around. Outlaw found a 33 decklid out back for FREE. (not to mention about 50 other bad ass old parts..33 hood and sides, misc. 35 truck parts, an axle with hubs and drums,e.t.c, e.t.c.)

they also have a couple of old White C.O.E.'s out back-the hood emblems say
    SUPER WHITE POWER.
    so much for being "p.c.":D

isn't it funny how things have changed? that meant NOTHING when the trucks were built. you see it now and expect Hitler to be driving...

No, no, LUX, I meant metal that you can buy at a steel shop so I can repair the rusty ass shit that I already have. :) But I'm going to stop by that place you mentioned anyway. :)

Westbrook Metals is a good place, but is somewhat expensive. I've also gone to Austin Mac-Fab on Airport. The owner/manager lets me buy from his scrap pieces for cheap. I bought two 3'x4' pieces of 16G for $25. Check them out. He likes cash. :)

Westbrook has it all, I've found thier prices for new uncut steel to be about average, but they don't give you a price break on scrap...same price.

Glad this popped up, I'm going to give a few other places a try.

Westbrook or Tirdent are the two suppliers I have used in Austin.
