Hi all well, I found it a 55 Buick century post all original one ooooold repaint clean interior everything works 322 nailhead dynaflow torque tube 4 wheel drum manual steering For starters it’s getting lowered maybe a set of lakes pipes Tune up fluids changed and a full goings over and if it’s all good drive the piss outta it this summer
Great. Looks to be pretty solid. Interior's not bad. Even the chrome looks good. Congrats. Have fun. Be careful. Sounds like you know enough to check it all out before you head on down the road. I've had Buicks. They were one of the nice big models back then, and they still are.
You found a nice one. Dash and tail end treatments on the Buick tri fives looks great. Here's an ad for a Special 4 door.
Nice score One of my 1st old cars was a 55 buick.I use to drive it 54 miles each way to work every day.Good luck with her.Bruce.
Thanks, would have preferred a hardtop. But this showed up and the price and condition were exactly what i was looking for. How are these things as far as parts availability? Suspension, steering, brakes tranny diff etc? Going to bring it home today I’ll take some more pics later
Something to consider..... I have always thought the stance of the "Highway Patrol Century" with the stock wheels and poverty caps was just bad ass. daa0a0ee686cea63d50e2fe92d204627-1000 by Travis Brown, on Flickr cc1f2e7a76cf7d5797af199224472111-1000 by Travis Brown, on Flickr
Congrats!! You done good, can't go wrong with a Buick. You have a Special not a Century, it has a 264 nailhead not a 322. One thing to be careful with, when you back up come to a complete stop before putting it in drive or you will end up with a slipping like you won't believe. Don't ask me how I know! I do know taking that dynaflow out, getting it fixed and putting it back in is no fun and cost some bucks.
Got it home and drove it around the block kids seem to like it Stops and steers seems to hesitate when accerarating thinking it’s in the carb Gonna tare into her this week
Welp the Dyna flow is living up to its legend Leak from the front pump area Where do we get parts for these things Anyone do a disc brake swap on the front? What about lowering? Big deal is the trans ...... damn not horrible I could drive it but would like to seal it if I can
If those are all your kids, when are you gonna find time for the car !!![emoji16][emoji16]. Great looking car you have there!! Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The trans will never not leak a little, unless you are one of the lucky ones. The more you drive it the less it will leak/seep/weep. Replacing the Dyna cascades into a massive project, and I don't think that's what you're after, so live with it. I loved my 55 ht. Yours has a nice color combo, have fun with it. It's like driving a couch. Great cars.
It drives like s champ except the leak Thinking to fix it and lower the car over the winter Wanna drive the pants off it right now
Nice looking car I happen to have a pair of hardtops one I'm in the process of lowering and bagging and then other is a parts car. Let me know if you need any info. Bruce Sent from my SM-T560NU using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
