Great find, a one-eyed Willy! Should be able to find a DeLuxe hood and the steering parts, that'll get you close to a runner. Put some MM in the cylinders and let 'er set, maybe it will free up, hope for the best.

Yep, itsa Standard. That looks like a pre-40 trans, or maybe an F-1 pickup trans. Those front seats aren't stock either, I wonder what they are out of?

Since the column is there, and I can see a clamp at the bottom, is there anything of the box left at all?

A bit of hotrodding already took place on this car judging by the trans and seats and maybe a grille swap at one time, so that's neat, and if you got it at a price where it would have been worthwhile just to get the suspension and brakes, I'd say you did great on the purchase.

I gotta soft spot for 40 Fords and it appears you found yourself a solid body, the fenders look good also.

Looks like a standard hood and a deluxe grille.HRP

What do you mean side trim? Other than the hood being curved slightly more, the belt molding trim is exactly the same as Deluxe.

Yeah, I got it in my head that standard trim was smooth like '39. I guess I was wrong on that.

.................UNVINDICATED!!:D....Just messin' with you. Actually there is a minor difference in Standard vs. DeLuxe side trim, but both are ribbed. The stainless trim on the hood sides ends about 6 inches shorter on the Standard due to the different hood curvature. For years I wondered why the hood trim on my Coupe didn't fit real well at the front of the hood. I could never get it to lay flat to the hood like I thought it should. A friend who had been into '40's forever, having owned a bunch of them, told me 2013-10-22 13.06.45.jpg 20160823_184325.jpg the problem. I have DeLuxe hood side trim on my Standard hood!!! It's just a little too long to conform nicely to the hood. I had no idea.

possible sedan delivery seats. IIRC, they had that back, and fit just like that.

If those are sedan delivery seats, they are probably worth as much as the whole car.

  15. I have very similar front bucket seats that were stock in early and mid 50's GM sedan and panel delivery vehicles, maybe even earlier. The Panel delivery appears to have been available with only a driver's seat as I bought one years ago that had no evidence of a seat having ever been mounted in the front p***enger location.

Hi. Been a very long time since I had 39 - 40 Ford's but I recall that the panel delivery's came stock with just the driver's seat & if avilable the p***enger seat was an add on accessory.

Maybe you need to tell your wife you bought it for her. I'll bet that will definitely change her outlook on your purchase. :) You did good.
