Hey all. Can somebody please confirm that 1932 ford coupe and sedan REAR fenders are different. What is the difference? How much work is involved in making sedan fenders fit onto a coupe? I see sedan fenders for sale but need coupe fenders. Thanks
The sedan fenders are narrower, as the rear body sticks out sideways more and covers some of the wheel tread. Also, the sedan fenders have a substantial curve where they fit to the body as the rear body is narrower at the bottom of wheel house than at top. Coupe/roadster fenders are wider and the body side is not far from flat if you lay them on the floor. I suspect the coupe fenders could be fitted to a sedan with little more than a slash with a saber saw to narrow them along a curved line.. Going the other way would require serious fabrication.
Like Mr Lancaster said you'll need to add about 2 1/2 inches to the top of the fender as well as a reinforced strip on the inside . I can let you know how much and can make you a patten off my coupe fenders and have a sedan fender to make a pattern. they are the same 3w5w cabriolet and sports coupe
Thanks Bruce Lancaster for your knowledge. And thanks John for the offer. But I will just keep looking for coupe/roadster fenders.
Coupe fenders also bolt on through the side of the fender(flange) sedan bolt up into the wheel well,no flange. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
