Hot Rods axle U bolt torque

    hi,i have a ch***is eng leaf spring kit on my 34 truck.1/2 x 20 nuts.what would you torque them too.google says anywhere from 45 to 70 lbs ft.ta in advance.

    That's what the recommended torque says for that particular bolt size. I'd go with that. Other wise you will deform the plates.

    And re-torque them after a couple hundred miles.

  5. And I'd highly recommend that you torque them dry; put any lubricant on them and you can crush the axle tube. DAMHIKIJK...
