Hot Rods Vin help GMC truck

    hello all! Thank you in advance for any information you can share... I am having trouble decoding the vin number of my early 500 series coe the number is I506-623I trying to get the correct production year. Thanks again

    Cant help, but cool truck. I'd like to pull a trailer mount Scrambler or Rock-o-Plane around with it.

    It is located on the upper left of the drivers side firewall

    You should be able to sort it out by going to the Old GMC trucks link that Greenie-ready posted. That is just about the only site I know of that has GMC info.

    Looking though that site there may possibly be a stamped number in the frame rail above the right front spring that has two letters three numbers a space and five or so more numbers. That would be the actual serial number if it were there. The number on the tag is the body number.

    I think that's the cab number, It should have a General Motors serial number plate on the p***enger side cowl under the hood.

    I think they were under the dash on the middle of the firewall before 39.
