Is there a way to remove all the rust off the inside of the doors and the inside of the quarter panels without getting the car dipped or sandblasted? I was just wondering because i have some rust on the inside of my doors and qaurter panel area, and i would like to get the rust off myself but its impossible to get the sander between the holes in the door panel.

I was just wondering and did a search and found nothing. And if there is no other way of getting it off myself, do you guys think that covering the inside of the doors with por-15 be enough to stop the rust from eating my door to shreds, without sanding the rust off?

I've been doing a lot of work shaving handles and patching panels in the doors and quarters of my '54. I've been using spray bomb rust converter (Rustoleum Rust Performer but I like the Mar-Hyde stuff too) to fog in the insides of the panels. Later, I'm planning spraying some light rubberized undercoating on top of that- the can says it inhibits rust as well.

  3. This is the ONE place I use rust converters. When there is no othe way to get to an area. Will it make it last forever? It's not magic but it slows the rusting process.

I agree Home Creapo has some Rustoleum product you brush on and it works great and you can paint over it.

Find some Ospho at yer parts house, or farm supply store...put it in a spray bottle, but don't get this **** in your eyes. It's a phosphouric acid solution that inhibits the rust and leaves a nice primed finish that you can paint over very easily with whatever kind of coating you'd like.
Ospho is green and you can buy it in clear quarts or gallons. Kinda pricy, but I swear by the stuff.

I brush on POR-15. Its a messy job and not easy to get everything but possible as I've done it to three cars. It helps if you have long arms ;) . Just run sandpaper over everything to get the loose particles, va***n up (or clean with air pressure) and paint. They have these neato cotton type balls on a metal "handle" that you can get in all types of tight places. They also work with regular paint.

Thanks, for the info, I'm probably going to go with the route you went with since i dont think you can really get the rust off. So might as well try and cover it as much as i can. If you don't mind me asking, how has the POR-15 hold up since you have applied it on the car?

Re inside door rust. What about applying spray on truck bedliner AFTER OSPHO? Bedliner spray does come in spray cans and really seems to stick.
