Cool on you - join the 55/56 mopar thread right here on the HAMB. You have the better base motor - the 270 I'm sure - in the poly form - that should take the early Red Ram hemi heads. But get it running first - those motors are really a good base motor. Options would be the 277 poly which would go 318 in 1957- not many parts interchange with your motor. The other option would be the D-500 Super Red Ram hemi. Another note it should have the chrome spears on the back on top of the fender line above the tail lights for 1956 - that's what they did with the 55 fins was graft.bolt a little chrome fin on top. Have fun and thanks for saving it !

  3. I think it's got the poly 315 or 354 but maybe the 270.... Still learning mopar...what a rare and unusual breed They are. Built lots of fords and chevys but this is my first mopar...I'm still trying to Identify. The engine casting number chart I used did not verify exactly it is. Glad I could help save an icon and relic lol

I wish I had a photo to show you of my old 1956 Dodge Sierra, two tone green wagon I had in San Diege. Solid southern California car. Ran well.

I was living with my parents and a buddy of mine came out from Michigan and bought it. It was in our front yard and he moved back to Michigan and left the car there. I already had a car and didn't need another, so we sold it. I was bummed because it was a totally rust-free, low mileage example. It looked like this one.... 1956 Dodge Sierra.jpg

Not sure where you see the third pedal, mind pointing that out?

  23. I didn't see 3 either[emoji12] however there are a few levers down there for fresh air and such

The brake pedal does look like 2 pedals because of the way the steering wheel cuts across it in the photo. Plus you can't see a gearshift quadrant because it is shifted by push****ons in the binnacle just out of sight on the left.

I like the obscure seafaring reference.

As the owner of a 1956 New Yorker, I know what you mean about levers, ****ons, etc. Three different levers for fresh air (one for the cowl vent plus one each on drivers and p***enger side. It also has three ****ons on the left side of the drivers kick panel. One for low/high beam, one for the windshield washer, and a third for the auto-tuning of the stock AM radio.

  28. In my opinion the cowl vent is so bad ***!
A few levers appear to be foot operated, what a concept...a car you actually control instead of one that controls you. (Auto park, auto climate control, auto *** wiper, ect ) lol. I work for an auto dealer and some of the new "features" drive me crazy lol
