Imperial Wheel Company - Staten Island

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Brootal, May 6, 2006.

  1. I saw an ad in the Old Car Trader for Astro Supremes. Company was listed as Imperial Wheel Co, 1580 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, (718) 987 7709.

Had a bit of a look on the web and couldn't find any reference to them. Closest I got was Van Iderstine Car & Truck Accessories, same address, but the number is 987 7708.

Anyone got any experience with these guys? I'm going to be in NYC in a couple of months and was thinking about checking out their wheels.

I had a quick look through the archives and it mentions that Imperial own the moulds and have Allied make the wheels, but are Imperial still at that location? And can you buy direct from there?

Any help would be much appreciated.

  2. Well you could call Pete Van Iderstine in California where he runs the Early Wheel Company and see if he knows what the connection is. Since he runs a wheel company and he's originally from New Jersey where he ran several speed shops there is a possibility of a tie in. That is if the Imperial Wheel company still exists. How old was that Old Car Trader that you were looking at?

    Good luck.

  3. Thanks, Dennis. Haven't heard of the Early Wheel Company. Do you know if they make Supremes too! :)

It was the March 2006 issue.

    Imperial Wheel Company?
I have heard of them as well in many old mags. I guess you will be looking for some standard rims this time around?

I attend school on Staten Island, if you want I can get someone to check them out. If you go, take the boat from Manhattan, great views of the city and harbour.Public transit runs up and down Hylan Blvd.

  6. Hey bogey, that would be great. I just want to know if they actually have a retail shop there. Don't want to rock up there and find out I can't buy anything from them!

Sounds like a cool trip anyway. Is there anything else around Staten Island worth seeing that I can convince my wife to go see? :)

Maybe next time i'm their a fellow new yorker would be willing to give me a ride in a nice MEAN auto mobile while i'm their ? =)

  9. I know, I spent five nights there during my honeymoon. It would have to be the noisiest place in the whole world! Had a ball last time, so that's why we're heading back.

At the moment it looks like we'll get there on July 23. Anyone know if anything is on that week?
