Hot Rods Project, Inherited 1924 Model T Ford “Lil’ Sue”(30's two seat speedster)

My late great-grandfather had a large amount of “spare” parts for Model Ts and I was able to get some stuff to start building a pick-up hot rod, will be posting more pics and updates, stay tuned.

This looks like fun!

 

A little bit of progress removing rust from the frame, some small pitting is present so using a filler primer to smooth her back out. Also found a great bullet hole through one of the headlight housings, probably going to paint the housing and leave the hole there for posterity.

What are you using to form the body panels?

 

I'm going to build the base framework out of tube steel and the body shape itself will be geometrically simple with no/ minimal complex curves.

Interesting, but you will find out that its in no way comparable to Lego.

 

Just really big dirty rusty parts missing LEGOs.

 

Yes, and those big rusty parts won't snap together as easily as Legos either.

 

That just makes it all the more fun

 

Greaty start for a Speedster, looks like 1925 era parts for the most part. First step is going to Lang's Old Car Parts website and getting a catalog. Don is a HAMB member, doesn't post often but he has a few really nice Vintage T Hot Rods, plus every part you will need to build yours. Bob

After much elbow grease I was able to discover a fresh coat of black paint under all that rust

Started back on the T finally again today, took some measurements of the rear of the frame. I’m going to make kustom lowering rear frame horns, looking for 5” drop right now but I’m doing more research on the lowest I can be before the rear-end starts back feeding fluid into the motor.

Had to stay home a bit recently [emoji855] I took a little time to start cleaning up the headlights, one is an original ford script while the other seems to be an older repop with a bullet hole for the extra touch of good luck!
