I have posted some pix of a '30 "sport coupe come coupester" project here... like to call it sportster ! I have been playing with the azz end... I want a chrome, diecast, "SPORTSTER" emblem for the decklid... good buddy swears Harley never did that, all sportster emblems were decals or paint... any one out there know of maybe, a repop emblem, or even a not bike emblem... boat, golf cart, lawn tractor, icecream van, Zamboni, snowmobile, vacuum cleaner, etc. ...info on print or script will be greatly appreciated... thanks.
Early Sportster primary covers had "sportster" cast in. If you could find a broken one you might scavenge that.
As a long-time multiple Sportster owner, I can tell you that Harley never made a chrome 'Sportster' emblem. Never seen a m***-produced aftermarket one either. Some did have chrome emblems, but they always say Harley Davidson... Here's a guy that had a set laser-cut.... http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=434859
I hear ya! The name I have planned for my coupe is "Sportsman" and luckily it's available as a late-40's Ford emblem. Gary
thanks boys... hemiman, can you find out more [phone #] on the emblems you posted ? I tried but didn't get off the front page.. I saw a suv with a H in a rectangle with rounded corners... Honda ? hyundia ? something - _ _ _ _ _ aster or _ _ _ _ _ oster... but it had the "ster" I need for sportster... it has a flat chromed surface, is script, has thinner horizontals, and thicker verticals, at 70 mph I couldn't catch up to them on the pike...
yes, thank you ... made an offer of $15 for one.... a "badges", coupe, seems similar in size and font... small case, slightly italicized, block letters... been wrong before... careful, some have a rectangular plastic backing... this lets me go coupester instead of sportster... wounldn't want an offended sportster riding biker chick to kick the living daylights out of whats left of me !
https://i.materialise.com/blog/chrome-plated-br***/ Heres a place that does 3D printed br*** and chromes it. No idea of the cost.
thanks indy, I spied a Subaru forESTER... in all caps, block letter, no tilt chromed letters.. . BADGES - coupe' emblem is less than $10... COUPE STER... Will post pix as I goes...
There's a few cars that used Super Sports as a model name (Chevrolet, Crosley, Bentley) which would have the letters you need. Not sure if they used individual letters so you could rearrange them. If you know of anyone with a milling machine, preferably CNC controlled, you could make whatever you like. "Search" in the HAMB for "ohv model t cnc" for a peak at what one member did for a fabricated valve cover (in the "valve cover picture thread"). Best bet - Google "chrome letters" (images), and you will find enough to make your head spin, various sizes (typically 1 to 1.25" height) and fonts, cost about a buck a letter. (It looks as though Autozone stocks them.) These are generally adhesive backed, and flat, so would have to experiment to see how much panel curvature they can tolerate. Also, can get "Sportster" as a single piece script, but that would probably be "custom", and more $$$.
The 2007 Sportster had special 50th anniversary emblems on it in a couple of places that might work for you.
