So I mounted my F1 box in my 31 Roadster yesterday and measuring for the drag link and ran into a problem. My pitman arm has the traditional ball mount for drag link but my steering arm bolted to my spindle has a hole it in for a tie rod or heim end.

Anyone know of a vendor that sells a ball mount end that I can screw into a custom length tie rod?

There is a Ball that fits into a tapered steering arm hole.Used to be available thru all the old ford places.Shouldn't be too hard to find.I'll dig around.i should have a few . Bob

Cut the ball out. That's what I did.

If I'm not mistaken the pre 49 car pitman arm will bolt to the F1 box and you can run normal tierod ends for the drag link. I haven't done it myself but I seem to remember it being done.
F100 box is a different setup...so it has to be the F1.

If you have to have the ball ends, get a '32-'34 ball stud for the steering arm per bct and shorten a Model A thru '34 tie rod to fit; otherwise use a car arm as Hackerbilt said, then fab a drag link with regular tie rod ends. Could also shorten a '35-'48 car and '35-'fifty something truck tie rod for a drag link. I think the car arm is the best way to go.

    Will a f 100 pitman arm fit a F1 box if so a 57 f100 arm uses a tierod end.

Nope, F-1 box has tapered splines and a retainer nut; while the F-100 has straight spines and a clamp bolt.

I'm using a 37 p***enger car pitman arm on my F1 box. Has the same taper and spline but is indexed different so you have to take a tri-cornered file to the wide spots in the pitman arm so you can index it where ever you want. I just used a hacksaw to start the notch and then used a file to cut the spline.
