Help! I cannot for the life of me figure out how to separate the lower and upper halves of the bucket seats in my 64 falcon sprint. After taking the plastics off , the one side easily pops over the rod, but the other side of the rod has an end that is bigger than the hole that's supposed to go around it and I can't even get the plastic piece off around it. My first thought was that it's a through rod that can be hammered out to get the halves apart, but I've hit it pretty hard and nothing. I added some pictures to give you guys an idea of what I'm talking about. Any ideas help. Thanks in advance.
Look under the seat. Is there a nut on the inside of the smooth headed bolt. I just tore apart a seat of a Mercury Comet.
There was indeed a pin just behind the smooth headed bolt. Popped it out with a punch and its free! Thanks guys! Here's some pictures of the car.
Nice...if my 1964 Sprint drop top was a four speed I would have kept it - after getting it from the original owner - from where I watched it for 40 years or so.
The bolt .goes thru plastic . After bolt is out, there will be flat button clip that comes out, by gently prying. Not all backs have the clips, but the bolt will release backrest from cushion.
