What are the differences in 38,39 and 40 drum brakes?

    '38 and 9 use the wide 5 drum, '40 the normal 5 1/2X5.
'38 use cable brakes, '39-40 use the same hydraulic brake.

Thanks. I guss I have 39s. Wide fives and hydraulic.
    Will 40 drums fit 39s

  4. The '40 drums will go right on the '39 backing plates.

If you decide you want to run '40 drums and want to part with your '39 wide 5 juice brake drums I would be interested in them. Thanks.

Stock 40 brakes are 1 3/4 in. wide. MT Products makes a complete kit to upgrade to 2 in. wide Bendix brakes design which provide better braking than the stock 40 Lockheed design brakes.
