We are restoring a 1954 Chevy pick-up and have come across a feature on it that we cannot figure out what went there or if it is not original. The dash of the truck on top has a windshield wiper knob and in the center of the dash are two screws about 2 - 3 inches apart that we cannot figure out. Any help would be appreciated! See picture... (please ignore the existing color, the truck is being sodablasted now to ready for paint). Thank you!
Paint some eye ball's and eye lashes over the screws, it will fit right in with the pin striping if you stare at it long enough!
I have 2 of these trucks, both 54s. Not factory screws. Sent from my SM-G930V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Actually, they may be either factory or dealer drilled - that's the mount for the optional electric wiper motor offered for the first time in a Chev truck in '54. They aren't common ...
302GMC nailed it. The screws are for the optional electric wipers and as he said they are rare. We had a 54 deluxe cab with a hydromatic that had all the bells and whistles and it didn't have one. Buyers usually didn't fork over the extra few bucks for those options when they bought new trucks then.
Typical. Someone joins just to pick brains, good natured people provide information and the O.P.? Never heard from again. It's just bad manners.
I have one of those electric wiper motors for sale if you are interested...drop me a line 701-880-8857
thats where they attach the ELECTRODES to try to keep thoughs CHEVY'S from rusting away on a quiet night!
