The Jalopy Journal and Rex Rods are hosting a pre-1949 (traditional cars only obviously) car show in Penngrove, CA on September 2nd of this year. That's the weekend directly after the H.A.M.B. Drags, so I am going to be running around like a chicken sans a head. Can't wait though... Rumor has it that we are pulling some pretty incredible and historic NorCal hot rods out for this one. If you like small shows with nothing but quality cars, this one is going to be worthy of a cross country trek... promise. Big Plans. Anyway, you will be able to find more details (accomodations, pre-registration, etc...) at www.hotrodrevolution.com in a week or so.
"custom cars built for style and driving" ? my spanish ****s ***, man this sounds like its gonna be a KICK *** show Ryan
I can't wait, and it's right in my backyard to. If anyone needs it i have an open room at my house to stay at.
This show has earned the official Muttley stamp of approval. It's sort of like the Good Housekeeping Seal only greasy and it smells like burning rubber.
On behalf of all the OS HAMBer's I cordially give you permission to run this event - ONLY if you all post pics of it - in excessive numbers, on the HAMB. Life is a real beach when you live this far away from real hot rod events!
I'll definately be there. With pre 1949 only, sounds like we'll have quite a 1950-early 60's presence in the parking lot Where's that '41 Caddy taildragger with the 500 CID I plan I building next, when I need it ? Look forward to this, -scott noteboom
I was hoping the pre-49 thing would go over better, but this is our first year and we are aiming at something pretty targeted. It could change... I gotta feeling this is gonna be a pretty cool show. I'm excited.
It would be neat if one of the historic hot rods this show pulls was the Multi Aldrich roadster. -Dave
my plan, since i missed the speedster run is have the T running again. hope you dont mind something from around '17. also i find it rather special that ryan is both condoning and sponsoring this event.
Too bad it is on the wrong coast ... No sweat ... I am retired now ... Hamb drags 1 weekend, this Hot Rod zRevolution the next weekend and Shades of the Past on the way home to the Carolinas ... Hmmm ?
If nothin' else you could stretch it to pre-51 then all of the shoeboxes, mercs, etc...could register for the event since they are similar to the 49's. Just a thought. But then if your goal is to keep it to a minimal then pre-49 would be cool.
My ***** is tiny, that's why I have cars. Now I have a B.S. reply to this post. On a more serious note finally a car show for real hot rods, I would have to say I am really excited. Although it might be tight for me with the HAMB drags and all? FLIP
it would be nice if somebody showed up with a '48 Hudson or a '48 Oldsmobile, both much nicer cars than a '48 Ford IMHO
Ryan, just curious how was the cut off determined. Why not the same yr the flathead ended or other days like 42 (pre-war) '49, '54 or '60 and earlier (vs pre-49) ..... ??? always wonddered how the pre-49 number like NSRA uses got to be so popular for a cut off Will someone be turning cars away that dont fit the look???? I hope it does good and the event is successful.
not all gl*** cars are a bad thing. I know of one that the body is 30 years old, and it is loaded with one hell of a traditional mill, suspension, gauges, you name it, and has more soul than alot of steel hotrods out there.
Ryan, are you setting up the website yourself? I am just looking forward to logging on and checking out the info, admission, directions, etc. gonna have show swag? posters or shirts? I live for that **** as if the show won't be enough...
